The Tea
Club
About Us:
Our team of facilitators at The Tea Club is composed of dedicated students from the Unitec Waitakere campus. As a peer-run initiative, we have come together to create a supportive space where students can unwind, share, and connect over a warm drink. This new project has been a collaborative effort, and we are excited to see it flourish as we help our fellow students navigate the challenges of balancing school and life.
Our Story:
The Tea Club was initially a project developed by second year Social Practice students Prisca, Joseph and Alex as part of a Community Development assignment. The group chose Unitec’s Waitakere Campus as their assignment topic to help foster a sense of connection and inclusion within the student community. The students identified a need for more support systems and ways to connect, which is how the idea for a peer support group meeting was formed. Fast forward a year, and the project is now led by a group of 12 students from across campus representing Nursing, NZCHW, Medical Imaging, and Social Practice working together to build a community. We hope this can be the beginning of a network that can thrive and develop over time, establishing a platform for other ideas and initiatives to grow.
